What is Post-Operative Knee Rehabilitation?

After knee surgery—whether it's an ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, total knee replacement, or another procedure—physical therapy is essential for optimal recovery.

Your surgeon can perform a perfect operation, but the work you do in rehab determines your final outcome. We work closely with your surgeon to ensure you follow the appropriate protocol and regain full function of your knee.

Symptoms & Treatment

Common symptoms include: Pain and swelling, limited range of motion, muscle weakness and atrophy, difficulty walking normally, and reduced ability to perform daily activities.

Our treatment approach: We follow evidence-based protocols specific to your surgery, starting with controlling pain and swelling, gently restoring your range of motion, and progressively rebuilding strength. As you heal, we advance to functional exercises, balance training, and sport-specific movements if needed. We also provide education on what to expect at each phase and how to protect your knee. Recovery timelines vary by procedure—from 6-8 weeks for arthroscopic procedures to 3-6 months for major reconstructions or replacements.
